new open stock mini bottles
New for this CHA Show, Ranger is releasing the Claudine Hellmuth Studio Mini Acrylic Paints and Mini Art Mediums as open stock!

Now you can purchase your favorite colors and mediums without needing to buy the large jars or an entire set of five mini bottles.

The portable .5 oz bottles are perfect for sampling new colors, or for travel to classes and crops. Also what I really love about them is you can apply the paints and mediums directly from the needle-nose applicator tip to create dots, squiggles and lines, or use a paintbrush for wider coverage.

Here's a little video I did about the mini paints when they were first released last year in packs of 5, and now you can buy them individually! Hooray!

I'll be at the Ranger booth Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am - 1pm each day with lots of demos and samples and if you are attending the show I hope to see you there!

easter egg challenge
Ranger is hosting an Easter egg decorating challenge on their blog and I was invited to play!

I couldn't wait to make something over the top cute! Right away I was thinking of bunnies and chicks and all things darling for Easter.

Here's what I created:

First, I made a little paper mache Easter Bunny, and then I collaged paper a plastic egg to create an Easter basket, everything got painted with Studio Gesso and then I added a Sticky-Back Canvas handle. I also added a few Sticky-Back Canvas trims to the basket too!

Check out the other eggs each day this week over on the Ranger Blog!

easy image transfer to metal tape
Here's a quick tutorial for a super easy image transfer to metal tape! It only takes minutes to do!

I'm using Ranger's Inkssentials Foil Tape which already has adhesive on the back. You'll also want a Mister filled with water and a laser photocopy - inkjet won't work so laser copy. Hint if you put a dab of water on your copy and ink runs. It's an ink jet! This kind won't work!

Cut out a small piece of Ranger's Inkssentials Foil Tape to fit your image size. Peel off the paper backing from the foil tape.

Place photocopy face down into sticky side of foil tape

  Burnish with a craft stick

Spray with water using Inkssentials Mister.

  Rub to remove the paper

Apply Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi Medium in Gloss to remove remaining sticky. Use Gloss so the metal stays nice and shiny.

Finished transfer!
Enjoy!!

new additions to the Claudine Hellmuth Studio line
I'm so excited share some exciting new product additions to my Claudine Hellmuth Studio line that will be making their debut at CHA Summer 2011!

First up:

The same creamy, artist-quality Studio Acrylic Paints that you know and love are now available in convenient mini-kits of 5 colors each!  These would be perfect to bring along to classes and crops, or to accent images (you can make fabulous polka dots with the precision nib!), or just to sample colors that you may not have tried before.  There are three  color combos to choose from. Pictured above is the "Urban" kit which includes .5 oz bottles of Smidge of Blue, Classic Teal, Painterly Pink, Yellow Pastel and Traditional Tan.

Also available:

The "Contemporary" kit includes Purple Palette, Sky Blue, Altered Orange, Dash of Red and Charcoal Black.

And last but not least, the "Metropolitan" kit includes Dab of Yellow, Modern Red, Landscape Green, Sable Brown and Blank Canvas.

Black Gesso!  Now you can prime your papers, canvas, chipboard, fabric, wood and more with black opaque coverage while giving a little "tooth" to your surfaces so that they will accept paints and other mediums more easily.  It even remains flexible on fabric!  Available in a 4 fl. oz jar, and also in...

...the new Claudine Hellmuth Studio Mini Art Mediums kit!  Just like the Mini Acrylic Paint sets, the Mini Art Mediums are convenient and transportable, and they easily add versatility to your craft and painting projects.  The kit includes .5 oz bottles of Gesso, Black Gesso, Extra Time Slow-Dry Medium, Gloss Multi-Medium and Matte Multi-Medium!

For more information about the new products in the Claudine Hellmuth Studio line, check out the official press release or visit Ranger at CHA Summer, booth #731. I'll be demoing there every day from 11am-3pm so stop by to say hi!
