catch up day
I managed to get caught up on a lot of work, but still have far to go. I am leaving for WA to teach a workshop on Friday and I'll be gone for 10 days, so much to do! Yipes. I am in "headless chicken mode" trying to get everything done before I leave.

Here's the cover of an altered pop-up book that I did for a friend's book. I created a story around me as a little girl and the bulldog that we had. I had to finish it all up and send it overnight today, and I made it just in the nick of time.

I've been working on PoppetTM Sketches to sell when I teach at the Coupeville
Arts Center and at Artfest. I have a few more to go before I think I'll have enough.

While I was working on them I was thinking about a conversation we had while at the Whipple's on Friday night. Paul and I were talking to Matthew, he was saying that he doesn't date his work anymore when he signs it because he noticed people don't want to buy the ones that are a year or so old. I have noticed the same thing when selling the PoppetTM Sketches and have stopped dating them unless they are created on commission. Interesting to think about.
COMMENTS:
I have noticed the same thing when I sell my artwork. It's as if people thing is is old and since it is still left, then something is wrong with it. I don't get it. I always thought the date on something made it more valuable. Now I am selective about what I do put a date on.

Hi CLaudine,
Be sure to take some breaks-get fresh air-anything relaxing - for at least an hour each day . I know...so much easier said then done. Will you be near the coast in Washington? Oh ocean air-the best! =)

mary beth

yes! I'll be on two different islands in the Puget Sound. really beautiful locations! The hustle to get ready, makes the workshop teaching feel almost relaxing!

LOVE THIS, and so does Miss Beula (my bulldog). Mr Georgie was quite handsome!!! I was able to catch you on Carol Duvall this am and loved it. You make it all look so easy. I am gonna have to give that technique a try. I do have a question tho...what do you use to clean up the oil paints? I've not used them before, so I need to make sure to get clean up materials too!

I am new to your site. All of your work is absolutely fabulous! Even though it would be incredibly hard to pick one, I think this is my current favourite. I am very excited to hear that someone with your incredible talent will be with us here in WA. I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip!
