This is an extra special kit - it includes SVG files so that you can print and cut on your personal cutting machine! But not to worry if you don't have a cutting machine! I have also included a PDF file so you can easily cut these out the old fashioned way with scissors :)
We had a lot of fun trying on the glasses - even our dog Maggie got in on it too. I plan to take them to Karaoke this weekend and play a little dress up. And don't you think they would be perfect for a Mad Men party too!? oh the possibilities!
SETTING UP THE SVG FILES:
There's a couple of little set up tweaks you'll want to make when opening and using these SVGs, and it might be a little different from other SVGs that you've used before, so I've created a couple of handy videos for you!
SILHOUETTE STUDIO V2:
If you have a Silhouette machine and use the Silhouette Designer Edition Software you will want to watch this one:
SILHOUETTE STUDIO V3:
Silhouette just released (on 4/16/14) a new version with an update and improvement to the Version 3 software, it is much easier to print and cut in this version than the update they had a couple weeks ago. I've filed a new video for you as well:
SURE CUTS ALOT:
If you have another type of machine or use Sure Cuts A Lot 3 (SCAL) software - you'll want to watch this one - also included the complete process of printing and cutting, showing how it works in my cutting machine. If you are new to cutting machines, or just curious about how they work, you'll want to check it out:
SCAL is a 3rd party software that works with many different types of cutting machines: Wishblade, eCraft, Craft Robo and more. This video will also help you if you are using the Sizzix Eclips - ECAL software because it is very similar and designed by the same company who makes Sure Cuts A Lot!
MAKE THE CUT:
I only have a demo version of Make the Cut for mac (it's normally a windows only program) but I wanted to include a video tutorial, there are just a couple tweaks you need to do to get the files to print in accurate color:
OTHER SOFTWARE:
ECAL: Files work great! Watch the above SCAL video for set up information. SCAL is very similar and designed by the same company who makes ECAL!
Cricut Explore Design Space software: I have not had success getting the files to show properly in this software. I hear they are making updates to the design space so I will test again in a few weeks and update here if it's working.
Brother Scan N Cut: I have not been able to test on this machine/software yet. If you have one, let me know how it works for you!

Claudine,
ReplyDeleteAre there any decent electronic machines that easily accept your own designs into them?
For instance, if I want to make my own design of stencil but have the machine cut it, what machine can do that with the least fuss?
I already know that the Cricut will only do their designs....
Glasses downloaded. Love them! THANK YOU!!!!!
Any help would be great, before spending a lot of moola on something and then still cut by hand. lol
Angeline
hi Angeline!!
ReplyDeletei really like using the Silhouette! I was terrified of using it and it sat in the box for MONTHS because i thought it would be so difficult to learn to use. Well i wish I had just plugged it in earlier because i was up and running in no time :)
Thanks for the freebie. These are so cute! I just got my Silhouette in December and am really enjoying using it.
ReplyDeleteyay Angela!! let me know how it works for you! make sure the watch the video with some set up important set up tips in there :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for these fun glasses. I especially love that you include the tutorial with the files so I can always know how to use them. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteJust another note... I have not had any luck with cut and print before (something to do with my printer) and today, I followed your video and had great success! It was easy and fun! Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteSandy - that is great news! Are you on the Silhouette machine? So glad it worked for you :)
ReplyDeleteHi I tried to download the svg glasses to the scan n cut canvas to cut and it will not come on the mat to change to a fcm file, (I have downloaded svg files to the scan n cut before..) I get an error code of errS09....I haven't tried my eclips yet, because I'm away for the week end , but will let you know...I can bring the glasses up to view on my computer ,just don't know why the file won't come on my scan n cut canvas....Glad to give you the help!! jeanmheming@aol.com
ReplyDeletethanks so much for the info Jean! I don't know the scan n cut but a tester did have success with the Eclips that one is the easiest you just open and then go through the print and cut steps. I have also been playing with Sure Cuts A Lot3 which is similar to the eclips so it should work for you on that machine :) fingers crossed!
ReplyDeletehi Jean! just a note that I updated the kit with new files that work with the SCAL software, so you'll want to download it again, also included a video in the post about file set up on SCAL :)
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! Your talent is simply boundless & I can't believe how easy it is to cut your svgs on the silhouette. Thank you so much!
